SYNTEXT:
Syn*Text is a program of the Loyola Marymount University English Department that emphasizes the interdependence of writing and literary studies. Through
Syn*Text, students gain an informed knowledge of literature and literary theory through a combination of both traditional and innovative "creative literature" and "creative writing" courses. Syn*Text explores the social/political dimension of literature and the social obligation of the artist in a variety of communities within the Los Angeles area. The program promotes a perspective on literature that is both intergeneric and intertextual, actively integrating fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, screenplays, and teleplays. Students also study literary works that push or transgress generic, linguistic, and cultural boundaries.
Syn*Text = thinking outside the box (i.e. the classroom). |
